FAQ

Riverside County CCW questions

Is A2 Defense an approved Riverside County Sheriff CCW training vendor?

Yes. A2 Defense is listed on the Riverside County Sheriff's Office CCW Approved Vendor List under its business name, A2 Firearms. Our certificate is accepted for both initial and renewal Riverside County CCW applications.

Do I need to finish training before my Sheriff's interview?

No. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office says you don't need to complete the safety course before scheduling your interview. Many students start their Permitium application first, then take the class while the application is processing.

How many guns can I put on a Riverside County CCW?

The Sheriff's Office allows up to six firearms, each registered to you through DOJ. You must qualify with every firearm you list, so bring each one to the range portion of class.

What's different about Riverside County renewals in 2026?

Start your renewal about six months before your permit expires. Starting September 1, 2026, the Sheriff's Office says renewal applicants must submit new fingerprints (Live Scan) with every renewal application. You still need an 8-hour renewal course with live fire.

When should I do my Live Scan?

After you start your application on Permitium and receive your order number. Write that order number on the Live Scan form, and don't get a second Live Scan unless a CCW Unit investigator asks you to.

Can I take part of the class online?

Yes. Our online Riverside County initial course ($300) covers the classroom portion online; you still complete the live-fire qualification in person on a range, as state law requires.

I don't live in California. Can I get a CCW?

Yes, if your issuing agency accepts non-resident applicants. See our non-resident CCW course.
